On Friday, May 10, 2019 in Athens a political memorial service took place for the anarchist comrade Lorenzo Orsetti who was killed on March 18, 2019 while fighting ISIS in the Syrian town of Baghouz al-Fawqani.
The event is co-organized by the Anarchist Political Organization – OS and the Anarchist Federation following a request-invitation of the “Anarchist Struggle” – Tekoşîna Anarşîst), within whose ranks Lorenzo Orsetti fought. The aim of the memorial was to highlight the ideals of internationalism, solidarity, selflessness and the unrelenting struggle for the social revolution, for which comrade Lorenzo Orsetti lived, fought and gave his life.
The event started with the statements of the organizing groups, while invited and key speakers were two comrades who have just arrived from Rojava and have been Lorenzo’s personal friends: an anarchist comrade who served the Rojava revolution in a non-combat position, and an anarchist comrade-in-arms of Lorenzo at the front. The political memorial service ended with a commemoration to the dead anarchists, communists, anti-fascist internationalists who gave their lives for the Rojava revolution.
